Liferay Teams With Pramati To Multiply Product Capability and Value

Integrated App Server and Portal Smoothes Path to SOA

SAN FRANCISCO--Liferay, provider of the leading enterprise-class open source portal platform, and Pramati Technologies, a leading vendor of J2EE application servers and solutions, today announced a non-exclusive partnership to help customers leverage the benefits of Liferays SOA-enabled enterprise portal framework. Under the agreement, Liferay Portal and Pramati Server will become available in a bundled version as a download on both companies Web sites and ship with a 30-day developer license.

"Bundling Liferay Portal with Pramatis robust application server software allows our customers to multiply the value and capability of their IT initiatives by leveraging Liferays excellent user management, CMS, authentication and presentation layer capabilities, said Jay Pullur, Founder and CEO, Pramati Technologies.

"This package is timely indeed as the coming version 4.2 of Liferay Portal provides standard integration with ServiceMix ESB and the jBPM workflow engine," said Brian Chan, founder and chief software architect of Liferay. These technologies allow enterprises to quickly plug in applications such as business intelligence, enterprise content management, CRM, and eCommerce on top of Pramati, which is designed to deliver complex integrated applications with high availability and scalability.

Pramati expects the bundle to help its customers effortlessly build SOA capabilities into their IT infrastructure. Liferay Portal will also provide a unified user experience and a framework for extending that experience to all parts of the enterprise. The effortless nature of the bundle will allow companies to focus on developing core application functionality specific to the business.

Liferay in turn through this relationship will leverage customer-driven innovation, demonstrate the viability of mixed proprietary and open source environments, and deliver on its promise to remain vendor-neutral with support for all major application servers.

There is no reason why an enterprise should spend precious technical and financial resources on the details of integrating Pramati with Liferay, ESB and workflow, or on building the services provided by our portal framework, Chan said. We want our customers to focus their efforts on building functionality that will enhance and sustain the core competitive advantages of their business.

Pullur said, Analysts predict 80% of IT spending will be on SOA initiatives within two years. This only makes sense because the benefit of a well-executed SOA, an IT infrastructure that can respond quickly to rapidly changing business realities, is enormous. The Pramati / Liferay bundle will not only ensure that our customers wont be stalled in implementing an SOA; it will give them a significant lead on competitors with extremely low costs of ownership.
