IDS Scheer Previews New ARIS Business Performance Edition at ARIS ProcessWorld 2008 Americas

New Products for Process Management Help Companies Improve Business Performance

ARIS ProcessWorld 2008

ORLANDO, Fla.--IDS Scheer, the leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM), will preview the next generation version of its ARIS Platform at its ARIS ProcessWorld 2008 Americas conference -- ARIS Business Performance Edition. With the new tools, users can optimize business processes, leverage their IT systems and address compliance initiatives. The new ARIS Business Performance Edition targets those organizations dedicated to continuously increasing business performance.

ARIS Business Performance Edition offers new ARIS products with features that are geared towards helping companies improve efficiencies, and overall performance by optimizing their business processes.

Process models can now undergo version monitoring in ARIS Business Architect 7.1, which leads to increased efficiency, particularly for distributed process modeling. We are currently working on a sophisticated Release Cycle Management concept (RCM), which needs to meet the tough requirements of all 68 agencies that are within the Ministry's purview. ARIS versioning fits the bill extremely well, making RCM implementation and use significantly easier, says Silke Lasch, from Competence Center Process Management at Germany's Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs.

A new What You See Is What You Get Editor (WYSIWYG) also enables novice users to analyze a process according to the most diverse key performance indicators, such as costs, throughput times or resource bottlenecks. This is confirmed by Bernd Linden, E.ON, Head of CSP Process Management and SOA: Our tests have shown that the new WYSIWYG Report Editor allows us to generate complex report scripts without requiring programming skills. As a result of new design capabilities in ARIS Business Architect, business process models are more intuitive and graphically appealing this should increase acceptance of the models among senior management.

With the new ARIS IT Inventory -- an extension of ARIS Business Publisher for the publication of process models on the Intranet -- users can have, for the first time, both write and read access to the central ARIS Repository via a front-end web browser. With a new time-based modeling system called Process Schedule, ARIS now adds project management functionality. VW has been testing this new feature. The Process Schedule will make things much easier for us here, enabling us to recognize process design flaws that arise from things like moving a milestone, explains Jörg Bansen, VW, Process Management team. The Process Schedule makes dealing with the time dependencies between our complex processes manageable.

In terms of other new products, ARIS Business Performance Edition also includes ARIS Risk & Compliance Manager 3.1 for the efficient implementation of compliance-related measures, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, EuroSox or Basel II. The new version also includes ARIS IT Architect 7.1, a tool for Enterprise Architecture Management which provides a clear and comprehensive description method for the creation of IT architectures and enables the current status of the IT landscape to be analyzed and planned as well as target states to be defined, simulated and monitored.

Bolstering its products for the monitoring and controlling of business processes, the new version includes ARIS Process Performance Manager 4.1 (ARIS PPM), ARIS Performance Dashboard 4.1 and ARIS Process Event Monitor 1.1 (ARIS PEM). For the first time, these tools offer process-oriented Business Intelligence (BI) technology that leverages the ARIS Platform for strategic, tactical and management of daily operations all due to automatic reverse modeling and the ability to graphically visualize all current processes. Weaknesses in internal or external processes (e.g. SLAs) are easily identified and resolved instantly directly increasing the performance capability of business processes.

Finally, the modeling methods in ARIS have been enhanced. Six Sigma, BPMN and the OASIS SOA reference model are now among the supported standards.

Thanks to the enhancement of methods and functions, ARIS Business Performance Edition offers many new areas of application that make process management simpler and more dynamic for our customers. This enables us to support our customers in guaranteeing their companys success in terms of effectiveness and cost efficiency, says Dr. Wolfram Jost, Member of the Executive Board with responsibility for Product Strategy and Development of IDS Scheer.
