Investment Company Institute General Membership Meeting
WASHINGTON--May 18, 2006--Kintera(R) Inc. (Nasdaq:KNTA) today announced that assets in Franklin Templeton Charitable Giving Fund(TM), Franklin Templeton Investments' donor advised fund program, have grown by more than 75 percent in the last nine months ended March 31, 2006.
Kintera provides the Web-based software, administration and advisor level sales support for the Franklin Templeton Charitable Giving Fund, while Renaissance Administration LLC, the nation's largest independent trust administrator, supports the charitable functions of the underlying charity, Renaissance Charitable Foundation, Inc. (RCF). RCF maintains more than 500 donor advised funds across the U.S.
"Since renewing our agreement with Kintera and Renaissance Charitable Foundation on July 1, 2005, Franklin Templeton Charitable Giving Fund has received more than $13 million in new gifts," said Peter Jones, president of Franklin Templeton Distributors Inc. "These results illustrate that Kintera, in conjunction with Renaissance Charitable Foundation, has the right formula in place to successfully support our donor advised fund program."
Donor advised funds enable individuals with philanthropic interests to efficiently manage their giving by allowing them to make an irrevocable contribution of personal assets, such as cash, appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds or real estate, at the most advantageous time, claim a tax deduction for the gifts, and then direct contributions from their account to one or more charities of their choice -- at a time of their choice -- by recommending a grant distribution from the foundation sponsoring their account.
The Kintera GivingFund(TM) administrative platform is part of the Kintera Directed Giving program, created to help consumers channel their gifts through donor advised funds, pooled income funds and workplace giving solutions. Kintera's GivingFund program is a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution that allows financial institutions and charitable organizations to quickly come to market with a private labeled donor advised fund program.
"The Renaissance Charitable Foundation team has an in-depth understanding of the needs of the investment company marketplace, which has made a significant difference in our ability to support our financial services clientele," said William Hewitt, senior executive of Directed Giving for Kintera. "Their knowledge and familiarity with Franklin Templeton's distribution model has helped grow assets in Franklin Templeton Charitable Giving Fund by more than 75 percent in the nine months ended March 31, 2006."
